Apple Chunks-ewwww

Although all girls’ schools can be crazy and dramatic, when someone is in need of a friend, about 10 show up.  Here’s what happened today…

After first period, full of whining and complaining about monthly cramps my friend and I traveled to history class in spite of her discomfort.  Once we sat down, her feelings worsened. On top of the pain, she felt nauseous. She naturally, she rested her head on the desk. About halfway through the period she asked if she could go home. I encouraged her to but she decided to stay until the end of the “educational” movie.

Not 30 seconds later did her adrenaline rush allow her to basically pick up my chair and shove it out of the way while screaming “move!” She proceeded to blow fine apple chunks all over the ground beside my chair and into the hood of my coat.  After 3 “go”s, she spit, sat up, turned to the class and sheepishly said “sorry”.

We helped her to the bathroom, got her water and called her parents while the teacher called the caretaker. She kept muttering “this is so embarrassing!” until finally, after profusely apologizing to the class and the teacher the caretaker arrived. She apologized to him too! The caretaker  did the dirty work and then walked out mumbling to himself “twenty five years of this job”.

It just goes to show…it takes a village to study for exams, to locate feminine hygiene products when needed and to clean up apple chunks out of a furry hood.

Theresa Albert

I love food, try to watch my weight, know more than I want to about healthy living (sometimes I wish I knew less so I wouldn’t feel so guilty when I stumble), am a daughter, sister, friend, mom and wife who worries and scurries the meals onto the table. It is for all these reasons that I completed my nutrition, RNCP designation, wrote my book, hosted my Food Network show, consult with food companies to urge them to get it right (or at least better), constantly write about it, research it, all of this so I can cut through the nutrition and food “news” clutter. Happy to share with friends!

You’re a good friend :) Sorry to hear about the hood of your coat, but this story made me laugh….especially the last line!
