The Back in the Day Bakery Cookbook
By Cheryl Day and Griffith Day

Synopsis

This nationally recognized and locally adored bake shop from Savannah Georgia is making it’s mark with it’s first cookbook to celebrate their 10th anniversary. Offering more than 100 of their customer’s favorite recipes, this book covers everything from Breakfast Buttermilk Scones to Hot and Spicy Mixed Nuts and everything in between.

Best of the Book

It’s hard to pick what is better about this book, the amazing pictures or the jaw dropping recipes that accompany them? The hope that I too could make a rustic peach-blueberry tart as grand as the one on page 130.

I really do love the recipes in this book though. From classics like Carrot Cake and Sticky Buns, to creative and unique offerings like PB & J Bars and Chocolate Bread. They even have several recipes for bakers who may not have a sweet tooth including ham and cheese pastry puffs and vegetable pot pie. This book really does have a little of everything.

What Could be Better

The problem with a book as scrumptious as this one is the danger it poses to your waist line. So my advice is to admire this book often, and when you do cook for it make sure you have family and friends around to lighten the load so to speak by taking home some cookies!

Target Audience

This is a wonderful book for anyone who enjoys baking, eating baked goods or just likes to look at beautiful pictures of food.
